Notes The monuments left by nomadic tribes in the steppes of Central Asia and the Black Sea as memories of the past, especially kurgans and statues known as kamennaya father == tasnine in Russian, continued to be a mystery to scholars for a long time. The difficulties encountered in the description of these monuments were due to the lack of possibility to complete them with written sources, as in the description of other archaeological materials.
