Notes Professor F. Köprülü has examined the ethnology and history of some Turkish tribes in many extremely important articles °. Thus, he stepped into a field to which Turkological research had given little importance until now. In these researches, Professor F. Köprülü obviously acts from the following opinion: The ethnic, social and historical events that took place within the community of Turkish tribes cannot be truly comprehended when one always starts from great unities such as "Ottomans" and "Seljuks". These great unities are the result of many attempts that brought tribes of various origins and cultures into a political unity. Without knowing the individual elements, it is impossible to gain a true understanding of the whole. I believe that Professor F. Köprülü's writings confirm the accuracy of this assumption. However, there are many more sources in front of us that have not yet been processed, including Arabic, Persian, Turkish and even Chinese.
