Notes	Five hundred years after Christ, in the heyday of Istanbul, the rich of the city lived outside the city walls in beautifully constructed and extraordinarily decorated palaces and mansions, especially in the summer, just like today. Some of them were located at great distances from the walls and some were located by the sea. The emperors also had many palaces both in Kozmidion (Eyüp) and on the Marmara side. Moreover, in the same period, the famous "Vlacherna-Theotokos" church, Ste Chasse and Ayanikola churches, Ste Phorm and the famous St. The fortified monasteries of Come and Damien, the palaces and churches in the Pege district were also outside the city.
