Notes
Maşat mound, located near Maşat village of Zile district of Tokat province, was discovered in the summer of 1945 by Associate Professor Dr. Under the management of Ekrem Akurgal and Dr. It was excavated by a team consisting of Nimet and Tahsin Özgüç. 7 very broken skeletal remains were unearthed from the Copper Age level of this mound, which contains settlement levels from the Chalcolithic, Copper, Ethi and Phrygian periods. Five of these skeletons were given to me for examination. The excavators report that they did not bring back two child skeletons (Nos. 1 and 5), which were very broken and crushed.
