Notes	In recent years, the discovery of many medieval agricultural sites in Inner Mongolia has aroused great interest. These first came to the attention of Mr. O. Lattimore, who wrote an article in 1934 about Pailingmiao or Olan sumein tor, a ruined city close to Batu Khalgha. In 1936 several sites were visited by Mr Desmond Martin, who published a report on this trip, and the following year by the Danish explorer Mr Henning Haslund-Christensen.
