Notes We found it useful to proceed in two ways when starting the excavation: To transfer the soil mass that remained on the ground floor of the Basilica, which covered the entire north of the Agora, and to remove the debris that filled the subsoil of the Basilica. Since we determined that it would be possible to carry out these two operations in parallel, we started to work on the underground floor with some of the workers, while we transferred the soil, which has a height of 1.5-2 meters above the floor of the basilica, with the remaining workers. We did not expect to encounter valuable finds during the transfer of soil from the ground floor of the basilica. Because this is the oldest one dating back to the 12th century. It was covered with Turkish era graves dating back to the middle of the century. Although an area of 6.30 meters wide and 24.20 meters long was cleared at the end of the excavation, no artifacts were found other than a few pottery pieces from the Turkish period, some tombstones and many skeletons.
