Notes As is known, documents belonging to the reign of Mehmet the Conqueror in the Ottoman archives are few. However, it cannot be claimed that these documents are completely inadequate to recognize this period. The notebooks of this period in the Prime Ministry Archives Office constitute a rich collection, especially in terms of the history of institutions. However, although they also touch on events directly, these notebooks are far from directly showing us the ongoing life and the movements of the society and the state. In this respect, a uniquely valuable treasure is the sharia registry books. In these books, it is possible to find many documents about the activities and initiatives of civil servants, social and economic life, as well as all kinds of orders coming from the capital.
