Notes	Celâleddin Karatay, who comprehended the most brilliant period of the Turkish Seljuks, is an important statesman who distinguished himself by calming and preventing the shocks the state suffered from internal and external events after the death of Alaeddin Keykubâd I (1237), especially after the Kösedağ defeat (1243). At a time when the sultans of this period were young or weak figures and the increasing Mongol intervention from outside shook the country by paving the way for fierce ambition and position struggles among the statesmen, Karatay stands out as a figure who tried to protect the honor and unity of the Seljuk Sultanate and was quite successful in this, thanks to the great love and respect he earned everywhere as a result of his personal power and high moral virtues. He is a personality that should be emphasized due to the charitable institutions he built in many parts of Seljuk Turkey. Due to the insufficiency of sources on the history of Medieval Turkey, unfortunately, we have little information about the life of Karatay, as well as the history of this period and the military.
