Notes
After defeating the powerful Naymans, Timucin was now in control of Mongolia. It is confirmed by all sources that he took the name Chingiz in the great congress he convened in 1206, in the year Bars. It is obvious that such a name or title given by a congress convened upon Temujin's success in Mongolia cannot be an ordinary name or title. For this reason, a number of scientific and lay explanations have been put forward about the origin and affiliation of the name in question.
