Notes	The excavation of Karatepe, which has gained an important place in the philology and archeology history of the Near East with its inscriptions and cultural findings, continued this year. These third season studies, which were supported by the joint and valuable financial aid of the Turkish Historical Society, the General Directorate of Antiquities and Museums and the Faculty of Letters of Istanbul University, and lasted from 17 September to 15 November 1948, were carried out by Prof. Dr. H.Th. Bossert, Associate Professor. U. Bahadır Alkım, Assistant Dr. It was developed by a committee consisting of Nihal Ongunsu, Assistant Mustafa Kalaç, Master Architect and Archaeologist Lütfi Özin, and Engineer and Architect İbrahim Süzen.
