As we learned from the famous scholar, historian and statesman Reşid-üd-Din (1247-1318), when the Ilkhan ruler Gâzân Khan (1295-1304) accepted Islam, he imitated the Muslim rulers and decided to build a tomb for himself and surround it with charitable institutions and went to Ebvâb-ül-Birri in Shem, the western suburb of Tabriz. Güzâni was born from this decision. J. Gâzân Khan also had charitable institutions built in other parts of his vast country.
