Notes In recent years, it has been understood that knowing the old Turkish titles is of great importance in understanding the ancient Turkish history. In this country, these studies, encouraged by Prof. F. Köprülü and continued by his students, have yielded valuable results. But now it is time to examine the vast material available in Chinese texts on these issues. This hasn't been worked on much yet. Apart from the title of khagan by K. Shiratori (Toyo Bunko, vol. 1; 1926) and related issues, there have been almost no major studies.
