Illustrated Novel Magazine started its publishing life on March 1, 1325 (March 14, 1909). A total of 5 issues were published, once a month and on the same day of each month. The last issue is dated July 1, 1325 (July 14, 1909). This magazine, whose director and privilege owner is Faik Sabri, is a publication with a volume of one hundred pages per issue, although it is small in number, with at least 80 pages of content in each issue and 20 pages of theater works included in addition to the magazine. He included strong literary figures such as Safvet Nezihi, Halide Edip with the pseudonym Halide Salih, Ahmet Rasim, Hüseyin Rahmi, Recaizade Ekrem, Mehmet Rauf in his writing staff. As a matter of fact, this magazine, which includes literary genres such as novels, stories, poems, plays and stories in verse, has a very important place in the history of Turkish literature, although it is short-lived.
The main writer of the Illustrated Novel Magazine, published in "Cağaloğlu 'Matbaa-ı Hayriye ve Şürekası'" with the phrase "5 kuruş per copy", was Faik Sabri, who has written many translated works in the magazine and whose name appears on every cover. The cover image of each issue of the magazine is drawn based on the important works in the content of the magazine. For example, in the 2nd issue, the scene where the main character reads a book under the tree, taken from the novel Raik's Mother written by Halide Salih (Edip), one of the important works of that issue, was depicted and the name of the work and its author was attached to the picture.
Illustrated Novel Magazine, on the third page of its first issue, wrote in bold and larger font letters: "Good news for novel enthusiasts! A revolution in our press! A step towards evolution!" It was announced to its readers with the following statements: In the content of the magazine, it is stated that each copy will contain a full novel, as well as three or four short stories and stories in verse. It was emphasized that in addition to these genres, copyrighted or translated theater works will be included.
