The beginning of the Ministry of Internal Affairs' broadcasting services is considered to be 1928. The oldest publications that can be identified belong to that year. The modernization movements initiated by Atatürk after the proclamation of the Republic were welcomed with enthusiasm throughout the country, and the impact of these changes and innovations was seen in the Ministry of Internal Affairs, as in every organization.
While determining the needs in order to produce services more quickly, effectively and efficiently, the necessity of increasing the knowledge and culture of the personnel, informing them of the developments in their field of work, and especially creating a bond between the center and the provinces has also emerged. For these reasons, the Turkish Administration Magazine, which started its publication life for the first time in April 1928 with the old letters under the name "Idare" as the "Monthly Magazine of the Ministry of Internal Affairs", was the most important publishing activity of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. There were two short interruptions during its publication life, between 1942-44 and 1979-82, but its publication continued by being renewed and improved at each start.
It is the first and only journal in its field that has been published for such a long time. More than 3,000 articles have been published since the first issue. Around 1,000 writers have made significant contributions to Turkish administrative life with their reviews, experiences, opinions and suggestions. To date, 15 additional and 7 special issues have been published. These special issues are important publications in which the establishment and duties of the Ministry of Internal Affairs are introduced and the future of public administration is discussed. It is the only work in the field of "Atatürk and Administration", which was published as the 362nd issue. The articles published only in the "Those Who Left Their Mark in the Civil Administration" Section were published in three independent books. Each issue of the magazine is the size of a book and is a guide that will not lose its feature even over the years in terms of the subjects that make up its content. In this sense, an index study covering the years 1928-1986 and 1987-2002 for the 75th year of publication was carried out, and it has continued to be published on the website www.tid.gov.tr since 2003 in order to enable readers to more easily access the articles and writings published in our magazine. In order to eliminate the problems caused by legislation and management gaps in the past years, all legal processes, from printing to use, have been completed, management problems have been solved and institutionalized. Thus, the necessary environment of trust has been created for writers and readers as a public media organ.
Turkish administration journal, which contributes to Turkish public administration by bringing theory and practice together in the same publication, continues its publication life as a peer-reviewed and national journal in its 81st publication year with the approval of the Undersecretariat Office dated 12 February 2009.
Turkish Journal of Administration is a nationally peer-reviewed scientific journal that publishes theoretical and applied original research, reviews and compilations in the field of management, is scanned in TÜBİTAK ULAKBİM Index, Social and Human Sciences Database Group B, and is also published in print. Our magazine has been published twice a year, in June and December, since 2012. Our aim as the Turkish Administration Journal in the new publication period is to fulfill our historical mission in accordance with expectations and to contribute more scientifically to the development of Turkish public administration.
