The universal features of the concept of corporate social responsibility are adopted in different countries as a result of globalization. This understanding directly affects managerial practices in different contexts in which it is adopted. The inability of countries to solve the problems they face regarding economy, health, security and ecological balance creates a suitable basis for the spread of the CSR understanding and ensures the reshaping of managerial practices with universal values. The response of businesses to problems encountered at the social level generally reflects the universal characteristics of the CSR understanding. Despite this, various dimensions of the CSR understanding at the level of managerial practices can reveal different applications depending on these dimensions. The aim of the study is to show the diversity of CSR dimensions in the hotel industry in Turkey and to reveal the CSR understanding specific to Turkey. In this study, using qualitative research methods and content analysis technique, this difference is examined through the CSR practices of hotels operating in the Istanbul region. In terms of universal values that guide the understanding of CSR, different dimensions of the CSR understanding of hotels in the Istanbul region have been discovered. In this regard, it has been observed that the managerial practices that direct the social responsibility activities of the hotels examined within the scope of the research reflect the global dimension of the CSR approach, which includes social responsibility towards the social demands of the society, relatively more. The findings reveal that internal and external dimensions are adopted in a more limited way compared to the global dimension. In this respect, a contribution is made to the relevant literature by examining corporate social responsibility in Turkey on the basis of the conceptual classification in question., As a result of globalization, corporate social responsibility perspective has been embraced by various countries. This perspective directly affects managerial practices in different countries. Economic, health, security and ecological system issues create a suitable environment for the host countries which lack certain aspects of dealing with the related problems. This also creates a perspective where managerial practices are redesigned in light of universal standards of CSR. From this standpoint, organizational response to social responsibility problems is generally driven by the universal standards of corporate social responsibility. Nevertheless, specific dimensions of CSR may dominate managerial practices paving the way for different kinds of practices in different countries. In this article, we investigate the CSR perspective of the hotels located in Istanbul area and explore related dimensions of CSR activities using quantitative research methods and content analysis technique. The results of the study indicate that hotels in İstanbul are more likely to use global dimension of CSR perspective and less likely to use internal and external dimensions when engaging with the managerial practices. Thus, contribution to related literature is achieved through the evaluation of conceptual classification of CSR in Turkey.
