This article is the product of a research project that falls within the field of sociology of literature and aims to reveal the profile of literary women in Türkiye. Some factors such as the educational status of female writers, their professions, their fathers' professions, the genres they write in and the foreign languages they know are examined and the distribution of these data over the years is examined. Although statistical data and quantitative analyzes based on them do not reflect social and cultural processes in all aspects, seeing how the data in question changes over the years is necessary to reconsider some of the judgments that have become automatic in the evaluation of literary production, which is framed under the name of women's literature and accepted as a canon without much questioning. Statistical distributions not only draw a panorama, but also provide data that can shed light on issues such as the institutionalization of literature, its commodification, and its transmission from generation to generation and to different cultures. For example, comparisons on the birthplace and place of residence of literary women help us determine the cities that are the literary centers of the country. The distribution of the genres in which literary women work and the change of this distribution over the years help us understand the gender dynamics in literature and the development of these dynamics in the historical process. This article, which evaluates statistical data, discusses the factors affecting the visibility of literary women and points out the mistake of deriving traditional knowledge for literature only from men., This article is a product of a research project which, within the scope of the sociology of literature, aims to unravel the profile of women writers in Turkey. The educational status of women writers, their occupation, their father's occupation, the genres to which they contribute to their foreign language abilities and the distribution of this data over the years are examined. Despite their shortcomings in giving a thorough understanding of social and cultural processes, quantitative analyses, they nevertheless can play a crucial role in problematizing the established judgments and often poorly scrutinized assumptions which serve as the canon of the field which is framed as women's literature. For instance, to see how certain statistical data has changed over the years, can shed light on previously neglected phenomena about the literary production of women writers. Statistical distributions not only provide a panorama but also give a perspective about the institutionalization and commodification of literature and its transfer to new generations and different cultures. For example, comparisons of place of birth and place of residence of women writers help us to identify the cities which are the country's literary centers. The distribution of genres and the variation of this distribution over the years, help us to understand the dynamics of gender in literature and the historical development of these dynamics. This article evaluates statistical data, opens a discussion on the factors affecting the visibility of women's literary tradition, and points to the inaccuracy of forming the established information on literature on a men-only basis.
