Nuri Demirağ, one of the first entrepreneurs of the Republic of Turkey, is known as one of the most important entrepreneurs of the early Republic period with his investments in the fields of cigarette paper production, pencil production, railway construction, factory construction, mine management, aircraft production and aviation training. In this study, the influence of the state on Nuri Demirağ's initiatives is explained by macro institutional theory. The study examines historically how initiatives are affected by the state and how the reactions of institutional actors change. The study aims to explore the impact of the macro-institutional context and the state on the emergence, rise and fall of Nuri Demirağ as an entrepreneur. To achieve the purpose of the study, a diversified data set, including archive materials, a wide variety of texts and newspaper news, was compiled. Narrative analysis was used in the study to explore the emergence, rise and fall of Nuri Demirağ., Nuri Demirağ, one of the first entrepreneurs of the Republic of Turkey, known as one of the most important entrepreneurs of the early Republican period with his investments in the production of cigarette paper and pencil, construction of railway and factories, mining operations, the production of aircraft and aviation education. In this study, the effects of the state on Nuri Demirağ's initiatives are explained with the macro-institutional theory. This study examines how the initiatives are affected by the state and the reactions of the institutional actors are changed historically. The study aims to explore the effects of state and macro institutions in the emergence, rise and fall of Nuri Demirağ as an entrepreneur. To reach the aim of the study, the data are gathered from multiple sources that include archival materials, various kinds of text and commentary and archival articles of newspapers. Narrative analysis is used in this study to explore the emergence, rise and fall of Nuri Demirağ.
