Notes One day, our dear friend Zarif Ergun, one of the archive officers of Top Kapu Palace, showed me the memoirs of her grandfather Zarif Pasha and kindly read some of them. I found the memoir interesting. With the permission of Zarif Ergun, I showed it to my esteemed professor Yusuf Hikmet Bayur, from Manisa, a member of the Turkish Historical Society. My esteemed professor liked the memoir and thought that it would be useful to publish it. Since Zarif Ergun gladly participated in this discussion, my professor, with the assistance of the Historical Society, agreed that the memoirs should be presented and distributed by me in Belleten.
