SALT Research Collections

SALT Research (archives.saltresearch.org) is a comprehensive digital archive within SALT, an Istanbul-based cultural institution, dedicated to preserving and making open access the social, economic and cultural memory of Türkiye and its nearby geography. Collections that focus mainly on late 19th century and 20th century Turkey; It contains millions of documents, photographs, sketches and letters that illuminate the Ottoman Bank Archives, the history of architecture and design, the history of art and the urban memory of Istanbul. Not only does it physically preserve printed publications and documents, the institution makes these unique primary sources available to scholars, students, and researchers worldwide through an advanced online database. Through comprehensive digitization projects, SALT Research makes a vital contribution to the global study of Türkiye's cultural heritage by building a strong bridge between the meticulous preservation of historical documents and modern, open-access digital humanities.
