Istanbul University Rare Books Library Manuscripts Collection is one of Türkiye's most established and comprehensive manuscript archives. Its core is Sultan II. This collection consists of works transferred from Abdulhamid's famous Yıldız Palace Library; It contains tens of thousands of rare manuscripts written in Turkish (Ottoman Turkish), Arabic and Persian languages. The archive covers a wide range of fields such as history, literature, medicine, astronomy, religion and art history; It attracts the attention of researchers worldwide with its sultan decrees, miniature works, historical maps and unique examples of calligraphy. Today, thanks to the digitalization efforts carried out by the university, a significant part of this priceless cultural and scientific heritage is gradually being made available to researchers electronically, and a strong bridge is being built between the physical preservation of historical works and modern academic accessibility.
