The French Near East Institute Mediateque (Médiathèque de l'Institut français du Proche-Orient - Ifpo) is an internationally respected research library network specializing in the history, archeology and societies of the Middle East. Instead of a single building, although its historical center is in Damascus, it currently has a structure spread across offices in Beirut (Lebanon), Amman (Jordan) and Erbil (Iraq). Institute; It offers a rich collection of more than 100,000 volumes in the fields of archaeology, classical antiquity studies, Arabic language and literature, and contemporary social sciences. One of the most important features that make Ifpo Mediatheque unique is its huge photographic archive (Photothèque), which contains tens of thousands of images documenting archaeological excavations, architecture and social life in the Levant region from the late 19th century to the present. Most of these archives and maps are made available for open access for researchers through the digital mediatech (Médiathèque numérique) portal.
