Pompeu Fabra University Library

Pompeu Fabra University Library (Universitat Pompeu Fabra - UPF), located in Barcelona, ​​Spain, is managed with a modern "Centre for Learning and Research Resources" (CRAI) model that integrates information technologies and library services. It has a service network spread across the university's three main campuses: Ciutadella (Social and Humanities), Poblenou (Communications and Technology) and Mar (Health and Life Sciences). The most iconic and internationally recognized part of the library is the "Dipòsit de les Aigües" (Water Reservoir) building on the Ciutadella campus. Designed by Josep Fontserè in 1874 (and whose static calculations were contributed by Antoni Gaudí, then a young student), this monumental structure was originally built as a huge water reservoir feeding the waterfall of the adjacent Ciutadella Park, and in 1999 it was transformed into a fascinating library with its enormous brick arches and columns. In addition to its extensive physical collection, UPF Library/CRAI has a strong digital infrastructure and manages the institutional digital archive called "e-Repositori", which collects and makes open access the university's scientific production, doctoral theses and academic journals.
