Biblioteca de la Universitat d'Alacant-BUA
The Library of the University of Alicante (Catalan: Biblioteca de la Universitat d'Alacant - BUA) is a central information management unit located on the San Vicente del Raspeig campus, Spain, serving the university's teaching, learning and research community. BUA adopts a modern "Resource Center for Learning and Research" (CRAI) model; It has a dispersed but integrated network structure consisting of the General Library building, the Polytechnic School library and faculty libraries such as Geography, Law and Economics. The library is known for its pioneering work in digitization and open access, as well as for its extensive print collection of more than 1 million bibliographic records. In this context, it manages the RUA (Repositorio Institucional de la Universidad de Alicante), the institutional archive of the university that collects, preserves and makes open access its scientific and academic production. BUA is also of international importance as it hosts the establishment of the Miguel de Cervantes Virtual Library (Biblioteca Virtual Miguel de Cervantes), one of the most important digital cultural heritage projects in the Spanish-language world.
