American Research Center in Egypt - ARCE
ARCE (American Research Center in Egypt) established its scientific library in 1978 to support research on the history and culture of Egypt; In 1994, with the donation of William Kelly and Marylin Simpson, the library gained its physical location in ARCE's Cairo Center and was named after them. Today, the collection contains more than forty thousand volumes, approximately 20% of which are in Arabic, focusing mainly on Egyptology (Egyptology) and Islamic studies; also covers areas such as the Greco-Roman World and Arabic Literature. The Simpson Library collection also holds important rare books, such as the first edition of the Description de l'Egypte (one of five complete sets in Egypt) and the general catalogs of the Egyptian Museum and the Islamic Museum. A unique feature of the library is that it has a publicly available photographed and photocopied collection of select Arabic manuscripts, including the works of Ibn Sina, from various Middle Eastern and European libraries.
