The University of Granada Library

The University of Granada (UGR) is a public university located in the historic city of Granada, 35 km from the Sierra Nevada mountain range and 65 km from the Mediterranean coast. Officially founded in 1531 by Emperor Charles V, the University is built on a centuries-old tradition of teaching dating back to the madrassas of the Nasrid dynasty, making it one of the most historically significant universities in Europe. UGR has five of its seven campuses spread across the city of Granada, with its faculties and schools scattered throughout the metropolitan area, giving the city a distinctive university atmosphere; It also has campuses in the North African cities of Ceuta and Melilla, making it one of the few intercontinental universities in the world. With this location, it acts as a bridge between Europe, Latin America and North Africa.
