Cambridge Digital Library
Cambridge Digital Library is a central platform for exploring digitized materials and research outputs from the University of Cambridge and beyond. The Library supports the University's mission of contributing to society through education, training and research; It aims to make its unique collections openly accessible to as many people as possible, to collaborate with local and international partners, to create interaction for the use of the collections, to ensure that content remains relevant in the future through technological innovations, and to encourage the search for knowledge with inspiring collections. Cambridge University Library, which grew from humble beginnings to one of the largest libraries in the world over the course of six centuries, was founded by Dr. It established the digital library infrastructure with a pioneering donation of £1.5 million from Leonard Polonsky. With this support, strong collections, especially in the fields of faith and science, were digitized, and additional funds were attracted from institutions such as AHRC and NSF. The library aims to enrich its digital collections with scientific research such as the Taylor-Schechter Genizah Research Unit, the Darwin Correspondence Project and the Newton Project. Where possible, the Library makes high-quality images, text and metadata freely downloadable and reusable for teaching and research, and also allows its viewer to be embedded on websites. The institution attaches great importance to digital preservation for future generations and cooperates with the Bodleian Libraries in Oxford in this field. Having become a digital humanities platform in Cambridge and beyond, the Library invites users to sign up for its newsletters or follow the latest projects on social media (Twitter/Facebook @CamDigLib).
