Notes "Adjuncta est materia medica kahirina atque tabula maris Rubri geographica." Date is immediately after place of publication on title page. Based on notes compiled by Swedish naturalist and pupil of Linnaeus Peter Forsskål, a member of the Danish expedition to Arabia (1761-1767) who died during the journey. Edited for publication by the expedition's sole survivor, Carsten Niebuhr, who also oversaw the separate publication of related illustrations, "Icones rerum naturalium," issued in 1776. (See Nissen, C. Zoologische Buchillustration, entry 1412) Frontispiece map of the Red Sea has caption "I. Haas sc." "Materia medica ex officina pharmaceutica Kahirae descripta": pages [141]-164.
