Notes The manuscript was in the ownership of ʿAbd al-Laṭīf (d. 1946). It was entered into the inventory book of Oriental manuscripts in 1961, Begins with: (1b) The Party of Ali bin Sultan Muhammad Al-Qari In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful Praise be to God who called us to faith, guided us with the Qur’an, and answered our call with grace, benevolence, and prayers, and peace be upon the master of creation who called for the call to truth. (2a) As for what follows, the servant hoping for the forgiveness of his righteous Lord says, Ali bin Sultan Muhammad Al-Qari You will be cherished by them and their sins will be forgiven when I saw some of the righteous clinging to the sayings of the respected sheikhs (3a) and I called it the Greatest Party and the Most Excellent Ward, Copyist note: (70b) The Greatest Party and the Most Excellent Ward were completed at the beginning of Dhu al-Qa’dah in Upper Egypt in the year one hundred and thousand three of the Prophet’s Hijrah at the hands of the weakest of servants, Hajj Mustafa al-Thayrah, and may his sins be forgiven and his faults covered, Ends with: (70b) And peace be upon the messengers, and praise be to God, Lord of the worlds. Conclusion, The title appears on fol. 1v as: Ḥizb ʿAlī ibn Sulṭān Muḥammad al-Qārī, Marginal notes and instructions in Arabic and Ottoman Turkish in black and red ink, On the first and last flyleaves Arabic and Ottoman Turkish instructions
