Notes
Ms. codex., Title from waqf statement on 'title page' now obscured by flyleaf (p.1)., Incipit: "Praise be to God for Him whose eternal providence has no end and no end to His transcendent guidance... And then the poor servant who is in the care of God the Helper, called Abdul Rahman, says: O brothers, this is a rejection of the benefits of the beneficial teacher and the creative bliss... Saad bin Isa bin Amir Khan, may God Almighty pour out springs of mercy upon them. And forgiveness... Then I found one of his books, The Book of Care for Guidance, in the hands of some of the heirs... Then I found one of his books, The Book of Guidance, in the estate of some notables, so I asked about that book in a bare-knuckle way, and it was sent to me without gratitude. When God made it easy for me to obtain these two books, which the professor had spent most of his life filling in... I began to collect what he had written in the margins of the guidance and explain the most complete religion, and I hastened to supplement it and complete it by writing down... Then know that if he mentioned, he said, Al-Muss... then what is meant by him is the one with guidance, and if his saying is mentioned in red, then what is meant is the explainer who perfected the religion, and if he is mentioned, I say, what is meant by him is the late professor Saad of religion and religion...”, Explicit: “I say, and he declared that in the first crimes affecting the fall of retaliation, it was done, done, done.”, Colophon: [al-niṣf al-awwal] “Scribal,” rectangular, reads “The completion of the editing of this honorable copy occurred on a Thursday night just before dinner time of the month Rabi’ al-Akhir in the months of the year nine hundred and eighty-four. He wrote what came after the Book of Sales and discarded its beginning in the first year, but the completion was delayed due to the difficulty in obtaining the copy due to its importance among the great scholars and its paucity among the common people of the people. Praise be to God for its completion, and we pray for His Messenger Muhammad, the master of the peoples, and for his family and honorable companions. [al-niṣf al-thānī] "Scribal," triangular, reads "It was agreed that the scribes of this honorable copy would be completed by the weakest of God's most merciful servants, the sinful servant Mustafa bin Abdul Karim, on the date of the year nine hundred and eighty-third. May God forgive whoever reads it and prays for its author and writer to be completed.", Collation: 10 V(100), VII (114), 15 V(264); almost exclusively quinions ; middle of the quire marks in the form of black strokes in the outer margin of the left-hand leaf (beginning with the second); page between the two sections left blank (p.229); catchwords present; pagination in pencil, Western numerals, supplied during digitization., Layout: Written in 29 lines per page ; frame-ruled., Script: Naskh ; elegant, compact Ottoman hand [as well as possibly Iraqi or 'Syrian'?] in a medium line; serifless with marked effect of tilt to the left, curvilinear descenders, pointing (two and three dots) mainly in conjoined dots, final yāʼ usually unpointed., Decoration: Simple illuminated 'headpiece' (ʻunwān) at opening on p.2 consisting of rectangular piece carrying the basmalah in gold tawqīʻ with gold flanking pieces and vocalization and accents in blue and gold, surmounted by an empty well ; keywords (he said sucking, he said, I say) and section headings chrysographed, rubricated or in blue ; written area through p.20 surrounded by gold frame defined by black fillets, elsewhere surrounded by blue rule-border ; Textual dividers in the form of gold, blue and red discs., Support: non-European (likely Arab) laid paper with 8 laid lines per cm.
