Notes The "Trattati," possibly written originally in Sanskrit, are by an unknown author called in the Italian codes Ipocras d'India, who is thought to have lived at a later period than Hippocrates of Cos, to whom the work has been attributed, and Hippocrates mulomedicus, a contemporary of Absyrtus and one of the writers included in the collection known as the Hippiatrica. cf. p. xi-xvii.
