Notes The manuscript was donated to the Library at the town of Károlyfejérvár in Transylvania [today: Alba Iulia, Romania] by Ágoston Ötvös (1811-1861), corresponding member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. Its contents were first described in detail by Antal Gévay (1797-1845), member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences and archivist of the emperor in Vienna (fol. Ir-v, written upside down), Begins with: (٢ب) بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم الحمد لله الذى خلق السموات والارض وجعل الظلمات والنور ثم الذين كفروا بربهم يعدلون هو الذى خلقكم من طين ثم قضى اجلا واجل مسمى عنده ثم انتم تمترون, Ends with: (٧٦ب) اللهم اغفر لى وللمحلقين والمقصرين يا واسع المغفرة آمين يا رب العالمين بحرمت النبى الامين سنه ١١٤٩
Sample Text The manuscript contains the following sūras: 6 al-Anʿām, 36 Yā-Sīn, 44 al-Duḫān, 48 al-Fatḥ, 50 Qāf, 55 al-Raḥmān, 56 al-Wāqiʿa, 67 al-Mulk, 78 al-Naba', 112 al-Iḫlāṣ, 113 al-Falaq, 114 al-Nās and 1 al-Fātiḥa (fols. 1v-55v); the 99 names (al-asmā' al-ḥusnā) of Allāh (fols. 56r-57v); the 99 names (al-asmā' al-šarīfa) of Prophet Muḥammad (fols. 57v-59v) and his physical description (fols. 60v-61r); the benefit of the Prophet's names and the names of the aṣḥāb al-kahf (the seven sleepers) in Ottoman Turkish (61v-62v); prescriptions concerning rituals and praying related to the Meccan pilgrimage in Ottoman Turkish with inserted prayers in Arabic (fols. 63v-76v); on fol. 77r-v a prayer before meals (Duʿāʾ ṭaʿām) in Arabic; on fol. 1r recipe and prayer for healing in Ottoman Turkish; fols. 60r, 63r are left blank
