Notes Ms. codex., Title from rubricated 'title page' inscription (p.1)., Incipit: [al-Bāb fī ʻilm al-ʻarūḍ] "The Sheikh Imam Abu Muhammad Saeed bin Al-Mubarak Al-Nahwi, may God have mercy on him, said poetry is a rhymed word that indicates the meaning and derivation of 'I felt something if I knew about it...'" [Jumlah mukhtaṣarah fī ʻilm al-qawāfī] “This is a brief sentence in the science of rhymes befitting this summary of prosody. Zayd includes its knowledge with many modifications and many quotations...”; [al-Fuṣūl fī al-qawāfī] “Know that poetry is successively composed of things, some of which are inherent and some of which are separate...”, Explicit: “As for reproach, the Alif and Lam follow the noun, so the noon was present in it.”, Collation: i, 2 V(20), VII (34), V (44), VI+3 (59), i ; 'quire numbering' in the form of whole words appears on the recto of every tenth leaf (as though quinions, but does not correspond to current sewing/gatherings) ; catchwords present; pagination in pencil, Western numerals, supplied during digitization., Layout: Written mainly in 17 lines per page, written area occasionally divided to columns ; frame-ruled., Script: Naskh ; clear, spacious Egyptian hand in a medium line; mainly serifless with slight effect of tilt to the left, curvilinear descenders, pointing mainly in distinct dots but three dots represented by curved stroke, occasional vocalization, alif maqṣūrah often pointed as yāʼ., Decoration: Keywords, section headings, and abbreviation symbols (mainly two-teeth stroke overlining keywords) rubricated ; Diagrams., Support: European laid paper with 7-8 laid lines per cm.
