Whoever wants to read them should read them. This [...?] is an explanation of omens. Praise be to God, Lord of the worlds, and blessings be upon Muhammad and his pure God.”, Colophon: “Scribal,” triangular, reads: “He finished writing in his hand the noble and blessed letter in the middle of the month of Dhul-Qi’dah, at the time of morning on Friday night, Omar bin Abi Bakr Muhammad, may God bless him [...?] and may God have mercy on him and his parents until the Day of Judgment in the year seven hundred and eighty-six,” Collation: iv, 4 VI (48), 2 IV (64), 2 VI (88), 4 IV (136), VI (148), I (150); catchwords present; foliation in pencil, Western numerals (referenced in cataloguing)., Dedication: Composed for Shihāb al-Dīn Mubārakshāh (see fol.2a)., Layout: Written in 25 lines per page; frame ruled (impression of ruling board evident)., Script: Naskh; Eastern hand, in the Yāqūtī tradition influenced by thuluth, rounded and neat; the Persian tendencies of the hand are most apparent in the text of the colophon; hamzah, alif of prolongation and tanwin are marked., Decoration: Text rubricated with forms of “he said”, overlining of sigla, and certain other words in red., Support: At least four distinctly different non-European laid papers were used; the largest contiguous chunk would seem to be the first four sexternions; codex is too tightly bound to spot chain-lines or measure laid lines; final two quaternions (i.e. folia 129-136) are notable for being especially thick, soft, and flocculent., Binding: Pasteboard covered in light greenish-blue European paper; Type III binding (without flap); pastedowns in orange paper; The covers are undecorated, although on the inside of the lower cover a concave impression from a decorative stamp (although not a mandorla) is apparent beneath the orange paper and traces of leather adhere to the inside of the upper doublure; One can surmise that the boards were recycled from another volume when the book was rebound; certainly not original to the codex; In good condition., Former shelfmark: From inner front cover and spine label, "IL 202a" (likely supplied by Yahuda, see acquisitions slip)., Accompanying materials: a.
