Ms. codex., Title from opening matter on p.3., Incipit: “Our master and master, the Imam Al-Allamah, said... Muhammad bin Abdullah bin Ahmad bin Muhammad bin Ibrahim Al-Tamirashi Al-Ghazi: The most worthy of all. May God make things easy and complete. In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful... That the most worthy of what books and notebooks were opened with... Praise be to God who raised the landmarks of the religion and raised its beacon... And then the servant drowning in the seas of error says... Muhammad bin Abdullah... that The dearest thing is... the humble in its acquisition and the good... the science of jurisprudence which is undertaken by righteous servants... so I compiled a compendium of a number of famous texts... and I called it Enlightenment of Visions and Jami’ Al-Bihar. Then when I wrote it in the form of liberation and completion... I was given the opportunity to write a nice explanation of it that would solve its problems... intending to name it after its completion by granting Al-Ghaffar an explanation of enlightenment of eyes....”, Explicit: “He will be brought to the grave of Uthman Ibn Affan and visit it.” And he supplicates to God and asks for his need with His sanctity, and he asks God Almighty for forgiveness for all his slips and shortcomings, and he prays for his parents, his brothers, and all the believers. (vertical), chain lines spaced 26-27 mm. apart (vertical), and watermark of grapes with stem under crown (see p.82, 90-91, 118, 178, 310, etc.), well-burnished, beige in color; final quires on a type with 8 laid lines per cm. (vertical), chain lines spaced 25 mm. apart (horizontal), and three crescents watermark (about 120 mm. long, perpendicular to chains, see p.414, 440, etc.), sturdy, fairly thick and cream in color., Binding: Pasteboards faced in block-printed paper (now gray on yellow) with red leather over spine and edges / turn-ins (decorative paper faced, leather edged, framed binding) ; possibly once Type II binding (with flap, though now lost [?]), likely two-piece binding (seam of overlapping flanges visible at spine) ; board linings in block-printed paper (silver on dark blue); sewn in cream thread, two stations; worked chevron endbands in pink and light blue, damaged with some thread losses and cores exposed; overall in poor condition with upper cover and first few gatherings fully detached, moisture damage, staining, abrasion, etc. ; housed in box for protection., Previous shelfmark: Mich.
