Especially in the 16th century and before, such narratives are too few to count on the fingers of one hand. The word 'ser-güzeştnâme', which means writing/genre that tells the events that people experience, is a literary genre that is used in the Ottoman literary tradition and is directly related to self-narratives. Tuhfetü'l-İhvân, written by a scribe who lived in the Ottoman capital in the second half of the 16th century, is among the leading examples of this genre.
