The text is framed with a border in gold outlined in black. Thin cream paper, glossy, with laid and chain lines visible. Marginal annotations. Inscriptions in Ottoman Turkish on fol. (ii)b, one dated 1307 H. Quaternions and quinions ; catchword on the verso of each leaf. Title on tail of text block. Modern foliation in pencil using Western numerals (faulty).Decoration: Illuminated headpieces on fol.1b and 22b, naively executed in gold and colors. Fol. (i)a, 1a, 237b and (ii)b are silver or gold sprinkled.Inscription in Arabic script on a label pasted on the upper cover: "Taṣawwuf 3-".Origin: According to colophon, copied by Muṣṭafá, and completed in Jumādá II 966 [March 1559] (fol. 237a).Incipit: بسم ... الحمد لله الذى تجبى لذاته بذاته فاظهر حقايق اسمائه وصفاته وابدع بمفاتيح خزاين جوده وكرمه ... [2أ] ... وبعد يقول العبد الضعيف ... داود بن محمود بن محمد ابن الرومى القيصرى ... لما رأيت خلاصة اهل العالم ... [22ب] ... سقتى حميا الحب راحة مقلتى ... خوردم شراب عشق ... الحميا الخمر والمحيا الوجه والراحة الكفExplicit: وهذه الاقوال كلها من لسان نبينا صلوات الله عليه وسلمه وعلى آله واصحابه اجمعين - Brown leather over paper pasteboards for upper and lower covers, fore-edge flap and envelope flap. Both covers have a central gold stamped scalloped mandorla outlined in gold with radiating flecks, developing into pendants on the vertical axis. The border consists of a large guilloche outlined by fillets in gold on each side. Similar border on the envelope flap, with a smaller stamp on its pointe. Flowers consisting of impressions of a small circular stamp in gold and fillets on the fore-edge flap. A similar decoration appears on the doublure of the fore-edge flap. The rest of the doublure is covered with paper. - Commentary on al-Tāʾīyah al-kubrá by Ibn al-Fāriḍ (d. 632/1235). In this copy, each verse of the text of the Tāʾīyah is translated in Persian before Qayṣarī's commentary.
