Notes Ms. codex.Title from fol. ia.Copied by Mehmet Emin el-Karamânî el-Uryanîzade, a pupil of Osman -- colophon (fol. 414b). The ms. includes the colophon of the copy from which this one was made: copy by Mehmet bin Ali from Erzurum ["Erzen el-Rûm"], completed in Rabīʻ al-Awwal 1207 (1792) -- fol. 413b, and a copy of a letter by İbrahim Hakkı "to some of his fellow dervishes" included by the second copiest between the two colophons (fol. 413b-414b).35 lines per page. Written in a medium sized naskh in black ink with use of red for rubrication. The text is written inside a gold leaf frame outlined in black ink. Fol. xiiib-1a have an additional wide gold leaf frame outlined in red, and fol. xiiib has a large illuminated head piece executed in gold leaf with blue, red, yellow, pink, and orange watercolors. The text has many color illustrations, in watercolors and with illuminations, including astrological charts, maps, and theological diagrams. Catchwords start on fol. 150b and carry on until the end of text on the verso of each leaf. Glazed European paper, some sheets colored yellow. Fol. ib-iia have a table of contents inside a grid outlined in black ink. Fol. iib-xiib have the same contents grid but unfilled. A large square ownership stamp on fol. 414b, almost completely obliterated but with date visible: 1223 (1808-9) (traces of the same stamp visible in several other places throughout the ms, but these are completely obliterated).Incipit: حمد بى حد و شكر بى عد و ثنآي مؤيد بر وآحد فرد احد حضرتلرينه اولسونكه ... اما بعد بو حقير فقير حقيقى ابرآهيم حقىExplicit: كيم بونى اوقورسه مردكار اولور كيمكه فهم ايلراو بر خوردار اولور بوكتابى اوقويانى يازانى معرفت كنجيله ياى ايت يا غنى تأليف هذا الكتاب وقع فى تاريخ سال غقع ١١٧١ نفع الله من به انتفع - New binding in modern green buckram, with "Marifetname" in gold letters on spine. Original flyleaves were retained and they are in thick yellow paper sprinkled in gold. - A comprehensive work on geography of the world, astronomy and Islamic and Sufi theology, written for the author's son Ahmet Naimî.
