In this book, Halil İnalcık compiles his research on Crimea throughout his academic life and builds the backbone of a general history to be written in the future of his family. While explaining that Habsburg-Ottoman in Central Europe, Leh-Ottoman-Russian in Eastern Europe and Russo-Ottoman competition in the North are much more complex, variable and multi-actor than they are, the Istanbul Bahçesaray alliance explains the key characteristics of these regions through historical events . It shows the ways of writing history by reading the limited sources of Crimean history and researches critically.
