Marginal annotations. Short excerpts from several texts on fol. 1a.Collation: Paper, fol. 208 ; 1-20¹⁰ 21⁸.Two spine labels (vertical), reading respectively: "Mukhtaṣar fī al-maʻānī (partly wanting) lil-Taftazānī", and "1" in Arabic and Western numerals.Origin: Copy completed on a Saturday ("yawm dūshambeh") in Ṣafar 1050 [May-June 1640] by ʻAbd al-Laṭīf ibn Yūsuf (colophon on fol. 207a, followed by two lines of poetry in Persian).Incipit: نحمدك يا من شرح صدورنا لتلخيص البيان فى ايضاح المعانى ونوّر قلوبنا بلوامع البيان ... فيقول العبد ... مسعود بن عمز المدعو بسعد التفتزانى ... قد شرحت فيما مضا تلخيص المفتاح ... [3أ] ... بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم الحمد هو الثنا باللسان على قصد التعظيم سواء يتعلق بالنعمة او غيرهاExplicit: كلّا من السور بالنسبة الى المعنى الذى يتضمّنه مشتملة على لطف الفاتحة ومنظومة على حسن الخاتمة ختم الله لنا بالحسنى و يتم لنا الفوز بالذخر الاسنى بحق النبى وآله واصحابه اجمعين والله اعلم بالصواب واليه المزجع والماب - Paper pasted on paper pasteboards for upper and lower covers. Paper pastedowns. - Shorter commentary by al-Taftazānī on Talkhīṣ al-Miftāḥ by Jalāl al-Dīn al-Qazwīnī (d. 739/1338), an abridgment of part 3 of Miftāḥ al-ʻulūm by al-Sakkākī (d. 626/1229), on rhetoric (al-maʻānī wa-al-bayān). This commentary is dedicated to Abū al-Muẓaffar al-Sulṭān Maḥmūd Jān Bey (see preamble, fol. 3a, l. 2-3).
