Notes Ms. codex.Title from title page (fol. 1a). The same title appears on the lower edge of the text block.27 lines per page. Written in medium small naskh in black ink with use of red. Glazed European paper with watermark. Fol. 41-45 are later replacements on thiner European glazed paper with watermark (fol. 42b-45b: Blank). Writing exercices on fol. 1a. Title by a later hand on the first fly-leaf (fol. (i)a). Inscription in Arabic script on a label pasted on the upper cover: "434". Inscription in Roman script on a spine label: "Y 74" (repeated on a label pasted on the pastedown of the upper cover, and in an inscription in red pencil on the same pastedown).Collation: Paper, fol. i, 45 ; i (fly-leaf with inscription) 1-4¹⁰ 5⁶ (-1, after fol. 45 ; later replacement) ; catchword on the verso of each leaf.Incipit: اما بعد حمد الله على ما سبغ من النعم والصلاة والسلام على خير مرسل الى العرب والعجم فهذا معجم ذكرت فيه اعيان الشيوخ الذين سمعت منهم الحديث او اجازوا لي ولهم ثلاث طبقاتEnd of text in original copy (fol. 40b): ومحمد بن محمد بن محمد ابن يوسف بن عياش الناجر يحيي بن محمد بن محمد بن محمد بن احمد ابن مخلوفExplicit (fol. 42a): وعبد الله بن محمد البهنسي وابو الفضل بن ظهير والشمس البرماوي وخلق هذا اخر معجم الحافظ العلامة جلال الدين عبد الرحمن بن العلامة كمال الدين السيوطي الشافعي اعاد الله علينا من بركاته - Marbled paper pasted on brown leather over paper pasteboards for upper and lower covers and envelope flap.
