The letter is forwarding a couple of communications, so that the Resident may be informed of the wishes of the British Government. The item has two enclosures:1. Letter from James Howard Harris, Foreign Secretary, to the President of the Board of Commissioners for the Affairs of India, dated 7 July 1852.The enclosure suggests that in light of a suggestion made for the stationing of a ship of war in the Persian Gulf for the purpose of preventing the slave trade, that the commander in question is also employed to report on the new fortifications being built on the Persian Coast.2.
