Notes Middle part of a letter in which the writer describes a misunderstanding in the synagogue. The writer came into the synagogue while the recipient of the letter, Šayḵ al-Najīb, was speaking to his study group, whereupon al-Najīb seems to have publicly chided and insulted the writer. The writer now remonstrates with al-Najīb, saying he did not realise al-Najīb was there and that he feels al-Najīb should not have put him to shame as he did.
