Notes Letter regarding discussions with the authorities at Shiraz in regard to British property shipwrecked on the coast of Dashtee [Dashtī].The question is raised by the Government of Bombay as to whether the Royal Grant that secured plundered cargo lost on Persian territory was still considered binding by the Shiraz government, to which Stannus responds that all records relating to the Grant and the re-establishment of the Factory at Bushire in 1775 can not now be found at the Residency, but that the commercial agreement of 1801 by Sir John Malcolm and later confirmed in 1814 by James Morier and Henry Ellis afford ample protection for British property.Enclosed with the letter is an extract from the fifth article of the Commercial Treaty with Persia, covering the protections for British property lost on persian territory. | 2 folios | more | less
