Notes Letter from a husband, probably a merchant belonging to the elite, to his wife from his second marriage. He starts by mentioning his recent illness, and then describes in great detail his current emotional state. He is deeply depressed, lonely and worried about many things, and is having trouble sleeping. He misses his wife terribly. He also describes a visit by Abū ʿAlī, a Muslim, who told the writer that he had seen the writer’s wife in the company of another man.
