Ms. 681 | Origin: As appears in colophon on p.693, copied by Muḥammad Ḥusayn ibn Sayyid Muḥammad Shāh al-Ḥusaynī al-Marʻashī Shūshtarī with transcription completed 18 Muḥarram 1062 [ca. 31 December 1651]. As appears in following authorial colophon (also on p.693), composition completed 16 Ṣafar 681 [ca. 26 May 1282] in Kāshghar. | Accompanying materials: a. Inventory cataloguing slip in hand of Winifred Smeaton Thomas -- b. Acquisitions slip from Yahuda -- c. Slip of blue laid paper ("KFNT 1863" watermark visible) with excerpts in Persian (paginated pp.108-110) -- d. Slip of light blue wove paper with listing of book titles (paginated pp.145-146) -- e. Slip of untinted wove paper with notes (paginated pp.329-330). | Former shelfmark: From upper doublure and spine label, "IL 236" (likely supplied by Yahuda, see acquisitions slip). | Binding: Pasteboards covered in red leather ; Type III binding (without flap) ; doublures in brown leather ; upper and lower covers carry blind-stamped scalloped mandorla (filled with symmetrical vegetal decoration, compare Déroche class. OSd) and pendants, along with tooled rule border ; sewn in cream thread, two stations, many threads broken ; manuscript 'waste' guards on many bifolia ; worked chevron endbands in light green and cream, fairly good condition ; overall in somewhat poor condition with some abrasion, staining, lower board severely compromised (failure of the adhesive, full delamination and losses of pasteboard material) and now quite soft, cover detached at spine with most gatherings loose, etc. ; housed in box for protection. | Support: non-European (likely Persian or Indian) laid paper, possibly of more than one type ; mainly with 6-7 laid lines per cm.
