The work is the best-known adaptation [completed 660 h. = 1262] of the famous Arabic dictionary Tāǧ al-luġa wa-ṣiḥāḥ [Var.: ṣaḥāḥ] ... al-ʿarabīya by the lexicographer al-Ǧauharī (d. ca. 400 h. = 1010).
