Notes The book “Poetics of Sensual Illumination” represents a collection of articles published by Dr. Salah Fadl in his weekly column in the cultural supplement of the Emirati newspaper Al-Ittihad. He devoted it to reading texts from Arabic poetry in its classical phase during the first Abbasid era, with two major digressions about two poets who founded the liberal cultural awareness of this period: Bashar bin Burd and Abu Nawas Al-Hasan bin Hani, within the framework of a classification of poetic material based on the senses and their data, and tracking the maximum level of radiance they reached. In poetry and its images, with an artistic sense, he celebrates life and succeeds in the perfect aesthetic representation of its manifestations.
