Notes
“The novel champions goodness, love, and wisdom, seeks spiritual and social justice, refuses to remain at the crossroads, and always returns to forgotten spirituality, and this is what was embodied by many events and facts in the novel, which has many forms and techniques and takes on its voices. Its artistic plot was not hidden through artistic veils supported by messages, interrogations, philosophical analyzes and comments on religion, politics and civilization.” The novel “Distant Paradise” by Moroccan writer Zahra Zirawi represents the female voice, full of details. In it, the writer conveys a life experience rich in memories of an entire century that her family lived. The novel was published a few days ago by Dar Al Ain in Cairo, and in it Zirawi narrates the story of a young girl, eighteen years old or younger, who lived a unique, deep love story full of romantic situations, which takes us back to the seventies. Speaking about writing, Zirawi said, at her book signing ceremony during the last session of the Casablanca Book Fair, “I write and listen to the lesson of Marguerite Duras, who taught me while I traveled in the worlds of writing to be busy thinking about what I am writing, and what should be paid attention to, for that is my goal.”
