The book deals with the diversity of religious, intellectual and political currents in the Kingdom, the roots of its historical origins, and subsequent developments up to the present time. It addresses sectarian diversity and its symbols, and the most prominent constants and variables in the local intellectual situation, and its related margins. The book is not devoid of an extended and in-depth historical reading of the origins of the political movements in that region, a reading of their beginnings with the beginnings of Islamic history, the formation of religious sects, and the differences over politics and governance. A brief reading of pre-Islamic history. The book talks about the four sects in the Kingdom, in addition to the Shiites, Kharijites, and mystical movements, and the reformist movement of Ibn Taymiyyah, and their influence on the call of Imam Muhammad bin Abdul Wahhab, may God Almighty have mercy on him, and then approaches the intellectual and philosophical currents that appeared later. The writer addresses the political situation before the establishment of the first Saudi state, as he talks about the history of Najd, the Hijaz, and the south of the Kingdom, as well as the east and north, and the political situation that prevailed in those regions during that important historical era that paved the way for everything that came after it. Then he addresses the Saudi state and what caused its early downfall. Then the writer goes back to the life of the founding King Abdulaziz Al Saud, may God rest his soul, and the journey of unification and the struggle to prevent the fragmentation of the modern state, and to build a strong state, through which he created unity for one people inhabiting those scattered regions, and making this state its decisive strategic and economic presence in the region, and on the international map.
