Notes Manuscript codex. Layout: 21-22 long lines. Script: Written in nasta'liq for Persian and naskh for Arabic. Decoration: Rubrications in red. 17 larger illustrations about knowledge, chiefly in black and brown with some polychrome including green, orange, blue (f. 5v, 15v, 19r, 23v, 25v, 31v, 33r, 38r, 39r, 43v, 47r, 48v, 54r, 57v, 107v, 129r, 130r). Several leaves of tables in black (f. 152r, 190v-192v, 208v-213r). Shelfmark: MS Or 146. A leaf with a section of Jamī's poem Yūsuf va Zulaykhā was previously laid in with this manuscript; it has been removed and cataloged separately as MS Or 146a. Origin: Copy completed in 1233 AH. (f. 362v). Gift of David Eugene Smith, 1931-1934. Black leather with embossed, painted, and laquered central mandorla, two pendants on the vertical axis and cornerpieces. Framed in Arabic calligraphy citing a ḥadīth from the Prophet Muḥammad. Doublure is printed paper with honeycomb pattern in brown, orange, blue, and red.
